The Benjamin Zephaniah Library proudly presents "Rhythms of Resistance", an exhibition celebrating Black British men's creative and cultural legacies through poetry, visual arts, and activism.

This collection brings together the voices of Benjamin Zephaniah, Jamal Edwards, William Cuffay, and many more, showcasing how Black British men have shaped culture, challenged societal norms, and inspired future generations.

Enjoy the exhibition highlights of, the intersections of art, politics, and identity, exploring the struggles and triumphs of Black British men in creative expression. With their historical and modern contributions, we reclaim overlooked narratives, emphasising the resilience, innovation, and excellence within the Black British male experience.

From the rhythmic poetry of Zephaniah to the groundbreaking digital media of Jamal Edwards, this exhibition demonstrates how art has been a powerful tool for social change, activism, and self-representation. The legacy of African musical traditions is woven throughout, reminding us of the deep-rooted influence of Black culture in British society.

​This exhibition served as a platform to celebrate and elevate Black British men’s contributions to history, culture, and innovation.
