Empowering Black Creativity, Culture and Community
CADA (Collective of African Diaspora Artists) is The Black Art Hub's dynamic collective of Black British and African diaspora visual artists and poets. We connect creatives through networking events, professional development, and collaborative exhibitions and poetry performances. With Black Art Hub support, CADA delivers impactful cultural programming for corporate clients, community organisations, and educational institutions—actively contributing to British creative diversity, inclusion, and counter-narratives that challenge exclusion and reclaim Black British visibility. Whether curating gallery exhibitions, hosting spoken word showcases, or leading workshops, CADA artists shape culture on their own terms. As a Black female-led organisation, we don't just participate in the arts—we lead, innovate, and redefine what British creativity looks like.
About CADA—The UK Collective of African Diaspora Artists
CADA (Collective of African Diaspora Artists) exists to honour, protect, and elevate the creative expressions that emerge from the global African diaspora. Black British art is not merely an aesthetic tradition—it is a living archive.
It reflects the voluntary and involuntary movement of African peoples across the world, spanning pre‑modern and modern history, and it continues to shape British identity through the lived experiences, resilience, and imagination of Black British artists.
Yet, despite its depth and global lineage, Black British history and its artistic contributions have too often been shaped, filtered, or constrained by Western institutions. This has influenced how our stories are told, how our creativity is framed, and whose voices are deemed historically significant.
At The Black Art Hub CIC, through CADA, we actively challenge that imbalance.
We celebrate and centre the creative power of Black British, Afro‑Latin, African, and Caribbean cultures—expressed through visual arts, spoken word, poetry, performance, digital media, and mixed‑media practices. Our approach recognises that diaspora creativity is not monolithic; it is interwoven, multilingual, rhythmic, political, hybrid, spiritual, and constantly evolving.

Our Purpose
CADA empowers Black British artists and poets across all disciplines, giving visibility to their voices, their narratives, and their worlds. We champion:
-
Authentic storytelling driven by lived experience
-
Cultural integrity rooted in heritage and ancestral knowledge
-
Innovation and experimentation across traditional and digital practices
-
Intergenerational knowledge exchange through mentorship, workshops, and creative research
-
Representation without compromise
We also welcome non‑Black artists, institutions, and allies who are committed to learning, unlearning, and collaborating meaningfully. Together, we open critical conversations around technology, arts leadership, AI, institutional bias, and the creative pathways available for the next generation.
Our Values
Grounded in Black nationality, heritage, culture, politics, and activism, CADA embraces a collective vision:
Black British art deserves space, investment, and autonomy—not tokenism.
Gone are the days when a single Black individual is expected to represent an entire community.
We advocate for diversity within diversity, urging organisations to partner with us to create spaces where accessibility, visibility, cultural intelligence, and shared authority are at the forefront.
Within The Black Art Hub, CADA plays a vital role in shaping a future where Black British visual culture is preserved, expanded, and recognised as an essential contribution to British history and the global arts landscape.
